The A. W. Parker (Drybrook) Band is a Brass Band located in Gloucestershire. We are a contesting band and play at many concerts and events all year round in the Gloucestershire region.

We practice twice per week, Fridays, 7.30pm - 9.30pm and Sundays, 6.45pm - 8.30pm, in our Band Hall in Drybrook (locaton to be found under 'The Village').

Below are details of recent band events and news with photos where possible.

KIERAN GETS GCSE MUSIC...2 YEARS EARLY!!
Our Eb Bass player, Kieran Morgan, achieved a B grade in his GCSE Music. What makes it more fantastic is that he gained this qualification two years early! Click here to see Kieran in the local paper.

22nd JUNE, ROSS-ON-WYE BANDSTAND
The Band played its first performance at Ross-On-Wye Bandstand (see here). We will also be playing again on 24th August.

31st MAY - FOWNHOPE 'HEART OF OAK' SOCIETY MARCH
The band played both on the march and at the stops on the annual Heart of Oak SocietyMarch. Click
here for pictures.

18th MAY - WESTON-SUPER-MARE CONTEST
The band were drawn to play last in the Third Section at Weston, giving us plenty of time to enjoy the seaside experience on a surprisingly sunny day. After a spirited performance of 'Hinemoa' by Gareth Wood, in which several of our Academy Band debuted (well done to them), the band came away with an 8th place finish.

10th MAY, BAND QUIZ NIGHT AND AWARDS CEREMONY
The band's Awards Ceremony saw David Harding take the 'Roy Sampson Shield' as Bandsman of the Year and the Musical Director chose George Morley, our Eb Bass player, as 'Musician of the Year'.

3rd MAY - FOREST CHURCH MAY FAYRE
The band kicked of the 'summer season' at Forest Church's May Fayre, which was very well attended. The weather was also kind to us and the other performers and a good day was had by all.

21st JANUARY - THE NEW GALLERY
Click here to see a history of the band through photograph, from 1886 to the present day.

16th SEPTEMBER, WYCHAVON FESTIVAL OF BRASS
The band played an entertaining program, ('Copa Cobana', 'The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face', 'Irish Blessing' and 'Eve of the War') in the third section of this entertainment contest but unfortunately, were not placed in the prizes.

8th SEPTEMBER, NEWENT ONION FAYRE
The band was just one of many entertainments at Newent's annual Onion Fayre. Click here for pictures of the band in full swing on what was a very sunny day!

1st SEPTEMBER, MITCHELDEAN CARNIVAL
The band marched and performed during Mitcheldean Carnival, which had been rearranged due to poor weather. Thankfully, the rain held back long enough for the band to finish their peformances on the day! Click here for pictures.

26th AUGUST, ROSS-ON-WYE BANDSTAND
The summer program at Ross-on-Wye Bandstand was finished this year by the band in fine style. The weather was glorious (for a change) and a warm crowd was present to hear the music. We hope this event will become a regular occurrence in the summer calendars of years to come.
